Difference Between shir Berenj and Ferni
Nutritional Value of Ferni with Rice Flour
Ferni with rice flour is a nutritious and healthy dessert, making it an excellent choice for children, the elderly, and those seeking a light meal. This dessert contains complex carbohydrates from rice flour and protein from milk, providing the body with essential energy. Additionally, rosewater and cardamom have calming and stress-relieving properties, and consuming ferni can contribute to improving overall well-being.
How To Make Ferni ?
- Preparing the Ingredients
First, pour the milk into a pot and place it over low heat. Gradually add the sugar, stirring with a spoon until it fully dissolves in the milk. Then, add the rosewater and cardamom powder, mixing the ingredients with a spoon, and gradually stir in the rice flour. - Adding Flour and Achieving the Right Consistency
Then, gently mix it with the ingredients so it doesn’t clump in the milk. Continue stirring while slightly reducing the heat until the milk comes to a boil, then lower the heat again. For ferni, you must constantly stir the mixture to prevent it from sticking to the bottom and to reach the desired consistency. - Adjusting the Consistency of Ferni
Once the ferni thickens and reaches the desired consistency (be careful not to let it get too thick, as it will firm up slightly more when it cools), remove the pot from the heat and set it aside, but continue stirring. - Preparing Two-Colored Ferni
We continue stirring because the ferni is still hot, and if left unattended, it will stick to the bottom. You can also make a two-colored ferni by pouring half of the ferni into a bowl, adding a bit of brewed saffron or permitted food coloring, and mixing it well. - Serving Ferni
Once the ferni has cooled down a bit, you can first pour the white ferni into your desired dish, then add the colored ferni on top. You can enjoy it immediately, or let it cool at room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator to prevent it from becoming watery.
Key Tips for Preparing Delicious Ferni
- Be sure to dissolve the rice flour in cold milk to prevent it from clumping.
- Throughout the preparation, keep the heat low and stir the ferni constantly.
- Rice flour has a remarkable impact on the color and aroma of ferni.
Ferni | Persian Rice Flour Pudding
This sweet and tasty dessert is prepared using milk, sugar, and rice flour, or sometimes cornstarch. To enhance the flavor of ferni, rosewater, cinnamon, and saffron can also be added. This delicious dessert is one of the best complementary foods for children.
Ingredients
4 cups milk
4 heaping tablespoons rice flour
4 tablespoons sugar
½ small glass water
½ small glass rosewater
½ teaspoon cardamom powder
Directions
- Preparing the base
Heat the milk over low heat, gradually add the sugar, and stir until it dissolves. Then add rosewater, cardamom powder, and slowly mix in the rice flour. - Thickening the mixture
Keep stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Once the milk comes to a boil, reduce the heat and continue stirring until the mixture thickens. - Reaching the right consistency
When the pudding thickens (but not too much, as it will firm up more when cooled), remove it from the heat but keep stirring for a bit. - Making two-tone pudding
To make a two-tone ferni, divide the mixture and mix one half with brewed saffron or food coloring. - Serving the ferni
Pour the white layer into your serving dish first, then add the colored layer. You can serve it warm or let it cool completely and chill in the fridge before serving.
Tips for Delicious Ferni
- If you want your ferni to be saffron-flavored or chocolate-flavored, add a little brewed saffron or cocoa powder to the mixture when incorporating the rice flour.
- Pour the ferni into your desired containers and decorate it immediately after it’s ready.
- For decoration, you can use cinnamon, rose petals, pistachio slivers, almonds, or sesame seeds.
